Day 5. Rolled out of Thunder Bay and headed west. Found out the west side of town is much nicer than the east side. We stayed on the east side of course. Oh well.
Easy drive, little traffic. It was Canada day and a big holiday for the locals. In about an hour we hit the border crossing. We were the only ones there. First time I experienced that. Refueled, got rid of the plastic money and enjoyed Minnesota’s shoreline highway. Undeveloped and beautiful. Had lunch in Grand Marais. One of those unexpected pleasures. Excellent. Nice nice little town.
Bought some new gloves to replace a torn one. Within 20 minutes I lost one of those while waiting in a construction zone… Oh well.
Lake shore, waterfalls after waterfalls, twisties, woods, sun, clouds, wind, nice little towns. Very pleasant ride.
Duluth is a nice town. Taking quips for my choice of motels again – motel 6. I knew the double tree the first night would be a mistake. Oh well, I am at peace with it.
Wonderful dinner with the Love’s. Laughter, sea stories and libations. Thank you Elaine and Woody for making the trip. It was a special night.
At breakfast. Excellent. Late start. Too many Margaritas. Oh well.
