Last Day in Seattle

Day 17 – Monday, October 18

Had a nice lazy morning at the Stransky – West compound. Nice sunny day. Decided to head out for lunch, then to the Chihuly Garden and Glass museum downtown.

Jon took us to Din Tai Fung, a Taiwanese dumpling restaurant on U of W campus. We had to make reservations because of Covid. Interesting restrictions in Seattle. Beautiful campus. Fall colors. Students, student housing, football stadium, nice. Found the restaurant on the edge of campus. Apparently there are 2 or 3 three in the city. All I can say is this was a new experience. Dumplings with meat and soup on the inside. We sampled all sorts. I am now a fan boy.

.Drove down to the Space needle where the museum was. Found a parking spot a couple of blocks away. I became aware of the Glass artist name Chiluly. A Seattle local who apparently has works all over the world. Quite an exhibit. Spent a couple of hours inside and out in a garden directly below the Space Needle. Even had a 20-30 minute glass blowing demonstration. It really was impressive. Who knew?  Apparently everyone but me!

Headed to the Queen Anne neighborhood above the city with a park that offers the best views. Allegedly with the view used on the Fraiser tv show. It did not disappoint.

Stopped for ice cream at a local Seattle favorite. Yep.

Back to the house and enjoyed our final evening with delivery of their favorite pizza.

What can I say..  Fantastic visit.  Jon and Ally – Thank you!!!  They will be in Michigan for Christmas.

Life is good….
