PQ – Decided not to take day trips and to listen to Disco Frankie. We left Killarney and the Sportsman’s Inn. Headed to Baie Fine, a beautiful but narrow passage. Paul had the helm most of the day and navigated the passage from Killarney well. Went through the main channel, fjord and ended up in the pool. Calm but fishing poor there as well. Laddie on the bow looking for rocks a la Katherine Hepburn in ‘On Golden Pond’.
Watched a husband and wife try to anchor and tie their sailboat. He on the cliff, she on the boat, both yelling at each other. Laddie has great film. Commentary on the marriage encounter
Spent three hours trying to anchor for the afternoon / evening. Our out drive on the rocks later. We moved to the end of the fjord – successfully anchored there. Laddie rowed to the beach and tied the stern to a tree. I manned the anchor while Captain Stransky steered the course.
Cool area to swim in a secluded area of the fjord. Fishing poor again. We all caught bait and threw it back. Our neighbor in Killarney who helped us dock, Marty, was moored alongside. Laddie prepared cheeseburgers, zucchini on the alcohol stove.
A triad of boats who were moored near us in Killarney were there as well. Loud with one dufus acting as cruise director, yelling and playing loud disco into the beautiful night, breaking the ambiance of the setting. But he finally shut up and shortly after the northern lights came up and it was spectacular. One after another. A great way to end a beautiful day.
