Scotch Run I – Day 2

Saturday, August 2, 2003

Paul – Left Sarnia about 10a.  About 8 miles past the Blue Water Bridge – sudden power loss.   Laddie behind the wheel.  We figured his problem – ya know?  🙂

Stopped the boat.  Pulled the engine covers.  Bilges dry, engine smooth.  Started up again.  Running very rough.  Stopped again.  Lifted props out of water.  Pulled a good size piece of commercial fishing net out from between the pros.  Who would of thought??

Laddie back behind the wheel.  Beautiful day cruising.  Approx. 3000 rpm – steady 20-23 mph.  All of a sudden depth finder showed 6’ of water?????  Figured too deep for readings.

PQ behind the wheel.  Serpentine.

PQ here – ever see a snake run?  That was me behind the wheel.  At least to start.  After a while, enjoyed it.  Same cruising speed and rpms.

Arrived Kincardine, ON approx. 3p.  Need ice?  Boats decked out for Christmas in August.  Toured the town, nice old town with small old town park.  Searched high and low for fishing licenses.  None, except at the tire store one mile away.

Dairy Farm

After dinner Laddie and Paul went swimming and I walked to town to hear a bag pipe concert.  During the week, a lone bag piper brings down the sun while playing atop the quaint lighthouse that is near the marina and was right next to our slip.  Great sunset.

Laddie made a salad, steak and sautéed veggies for dinner.  Excellent.  Lights out at 11p.
